"Career opportunities for software engineers outside Azerbaijan" - presented by Anar Alimov

Anar Alimov, Microsoft Corporation Software Development Engineer has given presentation on “Career opportunities for software engineers outside Azerbaijan” in Khazar University conference room under CES Seminars program. Approximately 30 computer engineering students and junior engineers were attended in this seminar.

Oil & Gas Wells Cementing Basics - presented by Hikmat Isayev

The cementing of wells is a key factor, because how you build your well means how much it will serve to you. Now days small companies do not pay much attention on quality of cementing which is the reason of future big problems, sustained casing pressure, delay in production, cost of remedial cement jobs. Usually the budget of cement jobs per well is like 5% the cost of well. Cementing is a disciple which is involved in all phases of well. Right after drilling the well in order to cement casings, after couple of years production in order to block water zones and also during abandoning of the well at the end of well's life.

Crude Oil Pipeline Capacity Improvement - presented by Dr. Vusal Shafiyev

Dr. Vusal Shafiyev is working for BP as a process engineer. He is responsible for engineering support for BTC (Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan ), SCP (South Caucasian Pipeline) gas pipeline, and WREP (Western Route Export Pipeline) through Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Artificial Lift Methods - presented by Rufat Malikov

Rufat Malikov is working as a Gas Lift Engineer in Schlumberger, one of the main subsurface engineering contractors of BP in Azerbaijan. Rufat has professional experiance in both of these international companies.He presented a lecture on "Artificial Lift Methods / Gas Lift" hosted by Khazar University. Though it happened on shiny Saturday morning, 54 students from various local universities interactively attended the seminar and contributed with lots of interesting questions and comments.

Mechanical Equipment - presented by Shahin Verdiyev

The next Seminar of Caspian Engineers Society was held in the Qafqaz University, on Saturday 7 November. BP AzSPU mechanical engineer Shahin Verdiyev's presentation topic was "Introduction to Mechanical Equipment"

Maintenance Engineering - presented by Shahin Teymurkhanli

On the 24^th of October, CES organised its first seminar of academic year 2009-10. The topic was `Reliability Engineering and Statistical Distributions` and it was presented by Shahin Teymurkhanli. Shahin has been graduated from Bogazici University as an Industrial Engineer. He has been working in BP as Maintenance Engineer since 2004. Currently he is continuing his master degree on `Maintenance Engineering and Asset Management` program at University of Manchester. The whole presentation (including questions) took 100 minutes. There were 25 attendees from different universities such as Qafqaz, Khazar, ASOA, ATU. Based on attention of students and their meaningful questions the seminar can be considered as very interesting and fit for the purpose!

Material Selection & Corrosion Management

The CES seminar series continued with the subject of “Material Selection and Corrosion Management” on 18th of April in Qafqaz University. Materials & Corrosion issues play a key role in Integrity Management of industrial assets. The seminar was run by Dr. Rufat Azizov, BP Corrosion Engineer.
